Monthly Musings - January

2023 is off to an interesting start to say the least and already here we are, the end of the month. Like how?! I used to believe time is a thief, but recently I have changed my beliefs and realized it is a gift. Everyday is an opportunity to try live life to the fullest, to the what I would love for it to be. It may not pan out how I imagine, but it is another day to try, and that ability is the gift I am choosing to see.

Speaking of trying - is this monthly blog post series I have been trying to do for while. It’s been over a year since I’ve created one where I would share all the things including a curated playlist. I have been waiting for the “when it’s perfect” moment, but you and I both know there is no such thing.

I have dreams for what I want these monthly post to look like, and while I figure out how to make that happen I will start by sharing some of my monthly highs & lows, dreams, favorite design resources and items purchased. I would also love for you to share yours too in the comment section below.

Highs /

This month started out really beautiful. We rang in the New Year at the Happiest Place on Earth, aka Disneyland. We laughed, ate churros, flew the Millenium Falcon, and spun on the Tea Cups till it was time to go home. I gave my self till Jan.9 before coming back to studio life. I read, slept in, and just let myself be. I was so ready to come back to work, and two days in I got sick.

Lows /

Being sick for the remainder of the month was my lowest. The first days were fine, but after a week it impacted me mentally. I was really excited to get back to the studio and ended up I spending most of my time in bed, sleeping. I am grateful for Sri for taking care of me and for having more time to rest.

Studio Moments /

Studio moments from this month include orders, adding to the moodboard, finally getting a chance to DIY (peep the new bedroom sconce!), late night moodiness and flowers of course!

Dreams & Things /

I hope this year bring less perfection and more creating freely, along with personal projects I have had on the back burner for too long. I also hope to spend more time outisde the studio. February is San Diego Museum Month, where many locations are half-off admission, and I am very excited to get dressed and see all the lovely things others have created.

Final Musings /

Sometimes things just need time and space to grow. Things such as ideas, skills, dreams; much like the pansies outside my bedroom window. The month started with just one flower, and with all the rain and just being it grew and today there are three!

This Lizze Fortunato sweater was a Demember aquisition, but it arrived a few weeks ago. I love the candy like inpired buttons, and it’s so soft! I know you have seen this Chanel hand-creme, but it has been my go to this month with all the very necessary handwashing going on. It has gone up in price since I have purhcased it. I used some Macy’s rewards we had and think its worth worth waiting to go on sale. Lastly as some who designs paper goods, I love them too and I am try all the planners this year to figure out what works best for me. This year I am trying this pocket planner from Papier as a diary/daily recap and this Appointed one I have been using for all the studio/life tasks for a couple of years now. They both provide just enough room for all the things that need to be written down. Anyother tasks that are need a little less structure I use my own notepads!
